Panama
The Republic of Panama is a beautiful country in Central America, full of mountains, rain forest and a wonderful people. It is located in between Costa Rica to the north and Colombia to the south, with the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean on either side.
The capital city of Panama is Panama City, which is located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. It is the centre of business, finance and culture in the country, and is where most tourists to the country go at first. Old Panama is the original city area and is a World Heritage Site.
Panama is most famous for the Panama Canal which connects the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, which is in the Atlantic Ocean. It is located in the narrowest part of the country, and is around 50 miles long. It is known as one of the world’s engineering marvels and passes through the Gatun Lake.
Much of the centre of the country is made up of mountains and valleys, making it a country very rich in natural beauty which is one of the major attractions of Panama. There are also many lakes and rivers in the mountains, though many of which are hard to get to, leaving them unspoilt by humans and a haven for wildlife.
Though it is a small country, a little smaller than South Carolina, USA, it has may National Parks all over the country, which allow visitors to get to know the stunning natural landscape of this amazing country. The largest park is shared with Costa Rica, and is called La Amistad National Park.
